Not only is London’s night life legendary but it’s a beautiful city to cycle around once the sun has set. There is usually less traffic and visually it’s transformed, with its buildings and monuments illuminated to create a magical backdrop against the dark sky. Join us on an evening cycle ride to explore the streets of London after dark and discover its rich culture and fascinating history.
The journey begins at our riverside hire centre, conveniently located on the Southbank of the Thames. Your friendly guide will equip you with a bike and all safety gear before whisking you eastwards along the river with fantastic views on either side. Look out for the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre before you pedal across London’s iconic Tower Bridge towards the Tower of London and the city’s oldest Quarter. We’ll lead you through the atmospheric alleyways of St Katherine’s Docks, once one of London’s busiest cargo dockyards and then we head into the City of London, the heart of the financial district.
Take a moment to look up and you’ll see the past and future collide as beautiful historical buildings fight for space with soaring modern skyscrapers. A quick stop at St Paul’s Cathedral never fails to impress before we cross back over the river to see the Tate Modern Art Gallery and the infamous wobbly Millennium Bridge. Time for a refreshment break at a traditional riverside pub, the Founders Arms, to admire the city’s lights reflected in the Thames.
Back on our bikes we head west along the river past bustling Southbank and the impressive London Eye before crossing Westminster Bridge to see Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament up close. Next up is Westminster Abbey and Horse Guard’s Parade before we reach the geographical centre of London and home of Nelson’s Column, Trafalgar Square. A quick pedal down some backstreets takes us to the bustling energy of Covent Garden and its surrounding bars and restaurants. If there’s enough time we can ride through Chinatown and Soho, some of London’s hippest night spots. The night is still young but it’s time to head back over Waterloo bridge and drop off our bikes right opposite the Studio 6 pub (in case you’re a bit thirsty!)
This tour is a little different to our daytime tours as it covers more distance in the same amount of time. There’s less talking, and more riding.
All tours start at our bicycle hire centre in Gabriel's Wharf where we provide bikes and all safety equipment.
